Owner | Primary Care Provider | Family Nurse Practitioner
Attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and received Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society. I have been in the nursing profession for 19 years. Throughout this span, I had the opportunity to help women bring life into the world while working as a Labor and Delivery nurse. During that time, my desire spread to not just wanting to help pregnant women but individuals across all ages and genders. As a result, I enrolled in graduate school at East Carolina University in 2005 to obtain my Master of Science in Nursing to become a family nurse practitioner. I have worked as a family nurse practitioner for 13 years — providing high quality patient-centered medical care in rural health clinics where I helped the underserved, uninsured, and homeless.
My experience also includes working in urgent care centers and for private medical practices for large hospital systems where I have performed age-appropriate history and physical examinations, diagnosis and treatment decisions for complex, acute and chronically ill patients from ages 3 to 65. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other health care specialists, managing complex health problems, and making referrals as needed. Conducting patient/family education and counseling in the areas of health promotion maintenance and disease prevention. I hold certification as family nurse practitioner with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2009.
Telehealth, sometimes called telemedicine, lets you receive health care via video chat, phone call, or messaging. While you will sometimes need to be seen by a healthcare provider in person, telehealth gives you access to health care from the comfort of your own home. Telehealth lets your healthcare provider treat you without an in-person appointment.
Most telehealth appointments are through video chat, but phone calls and messages are sometimes used. Telehealth is safe and your privacy will be protected.
When Is telehealth or in person visit recommended?
Telehealth visits are good for:
Follow-up visits after you’ve already seen your healthcare provider (physician, nurse practitioner or physical assistant)

Monitoring chronic conditions like diabetes or asthma
In-person visits are better for:
Your first time seeing a new healthcare provider (physician, nurse practitioner or physical assistant)
Exams that need a hands-on approach, like feeling for a lump or listening to your heart or lungs
Blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging scans
