  • Jill Pascarella

    DVM

    Dr. Pascarella was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in South Florida. She received her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). After graduating from veterinary school she moved back to Massachusetts to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery with a strong focus in emergency medicine at a busy private referral practice (VCA South Shore Animal Hospital). After completing her internship, she practiced emergency medicine for 2 years until relocating to Charlotte in 2007. Currently Dr. Pascarella's professional interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, dentistry and ultrasonography. Dr. Pascarella's family includes her wonderful husband of 7 years (Joe), daughters Alyssa (born September 2010) and Samantha (Sammy born December 2012), Devi (a yellow lab who has lived with her longer than her husband has) and 2 cats (Walter and Badger). Although spare time is limited with two little ones, Dr. Pascarella enjoys college football (Go Gators . . . again), getting outside for a run, reading and spending time with family and friends.

  • Jackie Whitlock

    DVM

    Dr. Whitlock is originally from Pennsylvania but has lived in the south for nearly 17 years. She settled in Charlotte after completing her veterinary degree at the University of Georgia. She received both her Bachelor's degree in Marine Science and Master's degree in Earth and Environmental Resource Management at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Whitlock has a special interest in internal medicine, ophthalmology and clinical pathology. In her free time, Dr. Whitlock enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her friends and family. Her family includes her husband Jon, daughter Elsa and 3 dog children; Toby, Lola-bean and Ozzie.

  • John Houghton

    DVM

    Dr. Houghton grew up on the coast of Maine on his father's dairy farm. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and his veterinary degree at The University of Georgia. After veterinary school, he did an internship at Texas A&M University, advancing his knowledge, experience, skills, and helping to teach veterinary students in the areas of internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine. Upon completion of his internship, he moved to Charlotte and worked as an overnight ER doctor for 2 years prior to joining the Stoney Creek team in 2011. Dr. Houghton has a special interest in orthopedics, surgery, and emergency medicine. Some of the advanced surgeries he performs include: extracapsular repair of cranial cruciate ligament rupture (CCL/ACL), medial patella luxation surgery (MPL), simple bone fracture repair, femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO), perineal urethrostomy (PU), scrotal urethrostomy, cherry eye surgery, enucleation, stenotic nares surgery, cystotomy, intestinal enterotomies, or intestinal resection and anastamosis for foreign bodies, gastropexy to treat or prevent GDV, and mass removals. Dr. Houghton lives with his fiance, who is also a veterinarian, and they have an excited puppy named Jasmine, and a tolerant cat, Ruby. In his free time he likes to run, spend time on Lake Norman, travel, hike, or visit with friends and family.

  • Mike Hayden

    DVM

    Dr. Michael Hayden is originally from the Midwest where he obtained his veterinary degree from The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. After practicing in Georgia and Indiana, Dr. Hayden was named Medical Director at a VCA hospital in Connecticut. When the opportunity presented itself last year for him to move back to the Southeast to raise his family he grabbed it. Dr. Hayden has seamlessly fit into our hospital and we're extremely grateful he's joined us!. Dr. Hayden is married with two wonderful children at home and in his spare time loves shuttling his kids to their various after school activities and sporting events. His family also includes two Whippets and three cats. Dr. Hayden's professional interests include preventative health care and client education including being available to our youngest clients (as shown in the picture above) as Dr. Hayden also enjoys visiting the local schools to educate children about the proper care of their pets.
