  PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY As an Orthodontist and Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Dr. Suzanne Bird is one of just a few Orthodontists in the United States who is also a Pediatric Dentist. This dual specialty helps Dr. Bird create a pleasurable experience for all of her patients, young and not as young. She is passionate about Airway-focused orthodontics and pediatric dentistry and spends countless hours collaborating with and educating others on this advancement in dentistry. HOME LIFE When not helping her family of patients attain and maintain straight and healthy teeth, Dr. Bird loves traveling to the beach, walking, playing pickleball, and spending time with her husband and their five children. She is also a huge dog lover, especially their doodles, Henry and Otto. EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS Dr. Bird earned her doctorate from UNC School of Dentistry, her Pediatric specialty from Ohio State University and Columbus Children’s Hospital, and her Certificate in Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She has also taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in her specialty of Airway-Focused Orthodontics.

  Dr. Spencer Coombs

  Board Certified Orthodontist

  PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY Dr. Spencer Coombs is a Charlotte native – believe it or not! – and is so excited to practice with us at Braces by Bird! Dr. Spencer believes that everyone deserves to have a gorgeous smile, a proper bite and a healthy airway. This is why he has dedicated his career to orthodontics and has completed the many years of education and additional training necessary to become a Board Certified Orthodontist. HOME LIFE In his spare time, Dr. Spencer tries to get outside as much as possible. He currently lives in Fort Mill with his wife and their two young children and enjoys running, playing golf, mountain biking and fishing. EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS Dr. Spencer graduated from Clemson University – so, like Dr. Bird he loves ORANGE! – and then completed dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Following dental school, he pursued additional training and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. He served as a general dentist in the United States Navy for 4 years at MCRD Parris Island located in Beaufort, SC. Following his service, he completed an orthodontics residency program at the Dental College of Georgia in Augusta, GA and capped off his education by obtaining his board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics!
